We believe that quality education systems are developed and improved when those directly impacted—families, students, educators, and administrators—can provide input into the education system that affects their lives.
PULSE NJ is a grassroots organization that advocates for education equity in public schools. They empower parents, students, educators, and community organizations to participate in school decision-making processes. The organization supports public education equity, governance, and education reform policies.
Inform: We inform families about education issues, their rights, and how to engage with the school system. Additionally, we offer information on topics such as community schools through town halls, community discussions, and personalized one-on-one support.
Inspire: We inspire parents and families to use their voices to lead from the front and shape the future of public education. We host training and workshops to develop parent leadership and communication skills so they can better engage teachers and administrators for student success.s.
Ignite - We have achieved real victories for families and communities! Through our organizing efforts, PULSE NJ successfully won a community schools initiative after filing a Title VI Complaint with the U.S. Department of Education against Newark Public Schools’ One Newark Plan. Sustainable Community Schools: Our alliance builds on more than 20 years of work designing and implementing “full service community schools” in high poverty neighborhoods. Our model is based on the right of every child to attend a high-quality Sustainable Community School in their neighborhood.
